Firefox Aurora on Ubuntu 12.04

Firefox 12 should be out of Beta soon. Seeing as how it's turning out to be not that major a release, it's probably more interesting to take a sneak peek at what's currently in Aurora (to be released as Firefox 13) and will soon enter the Beta channel.

Installing Firefox Aurora

As usual, it's a simple matter of adding the Launchpad PPA from terminal, updating the local package cache, then installing the updated firefox package.

~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/firefox-aurora
~$ sudo apt-get update
~$ sudo apt-get install firefox

As simple as that.

What's new?

New tab page design
There's a new tab page slated for Firefox 13 that's more functional than the current default. It's still only in Phase 1 right now so just some of the planned features are currently in there.

Firefox's new Home Tab
A new Home Tab is also expected. If you don't use anything more than the search box, it's just visual clutter, really. For Ubuntu users, the Home Tab will not look any different, though. The new design should affect only Windows and Mac users.
