Installing Firefox Aurora on Ubuntu 11.04

The nightly Firefox builds may be a bit too bleeding edge for some. With Firefox 5 now in Beta and slated for release soon (barring showstoppers, of course) some users will inevitably be looking towards something a little more bleeding edge.

For Ubuntu users, there's the Firefox Aurora channel. Firefox builds currently in the Aurora channel are meant for eventual release as Firefox 6. Here's how to get in on the action now, for the impatient:

~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/firefox-aurora
~$ sudo apt-get update
~$ sudo apt-get install firefox

With that, you should be running Firefox Aurora in short order.

Firefox Aurora aka "Firefox 6 Alpha 2"
Note that Aurora doesn't install side-by-side with Firefox 4 so if you don't want the hassle in switching between both browsers you're better off waiting for final release. Firefox 5 will be out soon anyway.

Now, I think I'll see how much faster Aurora is compared to Firefox 4...
