"One of the Filter Drivers Installed for This Device Is Invalid"

Did you just upgrade your hard disk to a bigger one and now Windows tells you: "One of the Filter Drivers Installed for This Device Is Invalid"? When this happens the Found New Hardware wizard will appear on every startup.

Fixing this is actually pretty simple. You'll need to use Registry Editor to remove a couple of key from the registry that is causing this issue. Here's how:
  1. Click on Start, then click Run...
  2. In the Open box, type regedit and click OK.
  3. Find and click on the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-0 8002BE10318}
  4. Delete the LowerFilters and UpperFilters registry values (if they exist).
  5. Quit Registry Editor

Restart your computer, let Windows detect the hard disk once more, then restart once it's done. Your hard disk should now be properly installed.

This is based on Microsoft's KB article on this exact issue.
