Fixing .exe and .lnk file associations in Windows 7

No matter how secure Windows gets, there's still the little problem of file associations that never seems to get enough attention from Microsoft. If a recent malware infection has left your PC with .exe files that don't run, or .lnk files that don't behave as shortcuts do, then you'll want to head over here for a remedy.

Typically, it's just .exe files but the list of available fixes should be warning enough that other file extensions are equally vulnerable.
