Windows 7 and VIA's HD Audio

Windows 7 installs VIA's HD Audio as High Definition Audio Device but the driver that comes prepackaged with Windows doesn't work. You need to download proper drivers from the hardware manufacturer and install that otherwise the Windows Sound applet fails to detect the presence of your sound device.

The best place to get working drivers would be from OEMs. VIA typically organises their drivers by chipset so you'll need to find out your specific chipset beforehand if you intend to get drivers direct from them.
